What is CCPA?
The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) is a state statute that enhances privacy rights and consumer protection for residents of California, United States. The CCPA went into effect on January 1, 2020, and provides California consumers with specific rights regarding their personal information.
LicenseChain is fully committed to CCPA compliance and respects the privacy rights of California consumers. This page explains your rights under CCPA and how you can exercise them.
Note: While CCPA applies specifically to California residents, LicenseChain extends these rights to all users regardless of location.
Your CCPA Rights
Under CCPA, California consumers have the following rights regarding their personal information:
1. Right to Know (Section 1798.100)
You have the right to know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, and sell. This includes:
- The categories of personal information we collect
- The categories of sources from which we collect personal information
- The business or commercial purpose for collecting or selling personal information
- The categories of third parties with whom we share personal information
- The specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you

2. Right to Delete (Section 1798.105)
You have the right to request deletion of your personal information that we have collected and maintained, subject to certain exceptions (e.g., completing transactions, providing services, legal compliance).
How to exercise: Delete your account from Settings or contact us at legal@licensechain.app with the subject "CCPA Deletion Request"
3. Right to Opt-Out of Sale (Section 1798.120)
You have the right to opt-out of the sale of your personal information. LicenseChain does not sell your personal information to third parties. We only share data with service providers under strict confidentiality agreements for business purposes.
Note: If our practices change in the future, we will provide a clear "Do Not Sell My Personal Information" link and honor opt-out requests.
4. Right to Non-Discrimination (Section 1798.125)
You have the right not to receive discriminatory treatment for exercising your CCPA rights. We will not:
- Deny you goods or services
- Charge you different prices or rates
- Provide you a different level or quality of goods or services
- Suggest that you may receive a different price or quality of goods or services
Our commitment: Exercising your CCPA rights will not affect your access to our services or the quality of service you receive.
5. Right to Correct (CCPA as amended by CPRA)
You have the right to request correction of inaccurate personal information that we maintain about you.

Personal Information We Collect
In the past 12 months, we have collected the following categories of personal information:
Identifiers
- Name, email address, postal address, phone number
- Account username and password
- IP address, device identifiers, browser information
Commercial Information
- Purchase history, transaction records
- Billing and payment information (processed securely through Stripe)
- Subscription and license information
Internet or Network Activity
- Browsing history, search history
- Usage data and analytics
- Interaction with our website and services
Professional or Employment Information
- Job title, company name (if provided)
- Business contact information
We do NOT sell personal information. We only share personal information with service providers who assist us in operating our business, subject to strict confidentiality agreements.
How to Exercise Your CCPA Rights
Via Email
Send your request to legal@licensechain.app with:
- Subject line indicating the type of request (e.g., "CCPA Right to Know Request")
- Your full name and email address associated with your account
- Description of the specific right you wish to exercise
- Confirmation that you are a California resident (if applicable)
Via Account Settings
Some rights can be exercised directly through your account:
- Right to Know: View your data in account settings
- Right to Delete: Delete your account from Settings
- Right to Correct: Update your profile information
- Opt-out of Marketing: Unsubscribe from email preferences
Response Time
We will respond to your CCPA request within 45 days of receipt. For complex requests, we may extend this period by an additional 45 days, and we will inform you of any extension.
Identity Verification
To protect your privacy, we may need to verify your identity before processing certain requests. This may involve:
- Asking for additional information to confirm your identity
- Requesting documentation to verify you are the account owner
- Using account authentication methods
Authorized Agents
You may designate an authorized agent to make CCPA requests on your behalf. The authorized agent must provide proof of authorization, such as a signed power of attorney or written permission.
Do Not Sell My Personal Information
LicenseChain does not sell your personal information.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes. We only share personal information with:
- Service Providers: Companies that help us operate our business (e.g., payment processors, hosting providers) under strict confidentiality agreements
- Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights
- Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (with notice to users)
If our practices change in the future and we begin selling personal information, we will:
- Provide clear notice on our website
- Offer a "Do Not Sell My Personal Information" link
- Honor all opt-out requests within 15 business days
- Update this page to reflect any changes
Children's Privacy
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16 years of age. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at legal@licensechain.app and we will delete such information.
If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 16, we will delete that information promptly in accordance with CCPA requirements.

Additional California Privacy Rights
California's "Shine the Light" law (Civil Code Section 1798.83) permits California residents to request and obtain from us, once a year and free of charge, information about categories of personal information (if any) we disclosed to third parties for direct marketing purposes and the names and addresses of all third parties with which we shared personal information in the immediately preceding calendar year.
LicenseChain does not share personal information with third parties for their direct marketing purposes.
